Indigenous Home Cooking Class at Farmstay with Market Tour

What to Expect

Our classes offer the opportunity to discover REAL local food that's unique to Brunei, with traditional indigenous recipes that are nowadays overlooked and not represented in the majority of places to eat

Our trip begins in one of the two weekly rural markets (full of seasonal jungle vegetables and fruits, locally foraged with some unique tastes you're unlikely to enjoy anywhere else), followed by a cooking class covering authentic, traditional dishes in a local community's garden  (indigenous Dusun tribe).

Our hands-on cooking classes are taught by friendly local chefs and are suitable for all levels of expertise. We are here to provide you with a fun cooking experience with the freshest organic and local produce, showcasing Bruneian recipes and newly acquired skills that you can bring back home with you. Spend half a day with us and you will be creating memorable dishes for your friends and family in no time!

• Tagari Kerabu Timun (cucumber salad) 
• Ayam Pansoh (chicken with fresh herbs cooked in bamboo)
• Udang Serai Kucai (freshwater shrimp with lemongrass and chive)
• Umai Umbut Rottan (jungle palm ceviche)

Schedule

Every Thursday, Friday & Sunday

• 8:00 am: Pick up at hotel/meeting location
• 8:30 am: Fresh produce market, tour & buy ingredients
• 9:30 am: Leave market and travel to a farmstay garden for a class
• 10:10 am: Arrive and welcome drinks
• 10:20 am: Recipe 1 – Tagari Cucumber Salad
• 10:50 am: Ayam Pansoh demo – mix and stuff bamboo, place on fire
• 11:00 am: Recipe 2 – Udang Serai Cucai
• 11:30 am: Jungle Foraging Trail
• 11:50 am: Recipe 3 – Umai Umbut Rottan
• 12:15 pm: Recipe 4 – Seasonal Vegetable stir-fry
• 12:35 pm: Ayam Pansoh serve
• 12:40 pm: Enjoy Lunch
• 1:15 pm: End of class
• 1:45 pm: Return to hotel/meeting location
