What to Expect

'The Bamboo Experience’, a rustic pavilion modeled on a traditional Lao house, perched in a picturesque setting next to rice fields. An introduction to the importance of bamboo to Lao culture and to the use of bamboo in a diverse range of household items found in rural Lao dwellings. A relaxing bamboo weaving activity, where you’ll weave a souvenir mat made from strips of the bamboo plant, using a technique which has been practises for centuries. A fun, interactive cooking class, using the bamboo plant as a key ingredient; make dishes such as bamboo shoot soup, bamboo shoot steamed in banana leaf, and bamboo shoot dip and more. A delicious meal (made by you), and photo opportunities of semi-rural Laos, from the relaxing pavilion terrace.

Schedule

• 8:30 am: pickup at your hotel's lobby
• 8:45 am: Arrive at Bamboo house & Tea tasting
• 9:00 am: Explanation about bamboo and handicraft products
• 9:40 am: Crossbow shooting 
• 9:50 am: Bamboo stilts practice
• 10:10 am: Game of Petanque (Bocce)
• 10:30 am: Pounding sticky rice
• 10:45 am: Bamboo weaving with local craftsman
• 11:30 am: Cooking class demonstration
• 12:10 pm: Lunch in the traditional style
• 1:10 pm: Hmong Khen performance
• 1:20 pm: Kamu bamboo dance
• 1:30 pm: Back to hotel or city center
