Farm Tour and Private Home Cooking Class with Local Family

You will leave Hanoi center and drive to the west of the city, it takes about 35 minutes. Firstly, you will visit a local market since Le King Dynasty (1428). It is the most famous market in the region where there are many traditional items for sales. 

If on Market Day (two or three times per week), people from all the surrounding villages would come to trade. People bring dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and bamboo baskets to sell. Everyone is excited to meet each other on that day. You will be surprised about the bustling and colorful market which is working under the canopy of the old tree. You will see the old woman chew betel and areca nut and blacksmiths work hard with his bright brazier. 

If not on market days, you still visit the nice market with a local product for selling: Fish, vegetable, fruits, meat shops and chickens and chatting with local people at the market. Right next to the market place, there are nice vegetable farms. We go around and visit vegetable fields growing a variety of products including bitter melon, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, Chinese peas and corn, as well as fruit gardens with oranges, pomelos, papaya and more., and you may have chance to join a farmer working in his field on the way and ask experienced for local farmers about cultivation techniques and lifestyle. 

After that, you go to my house to cook delicious and traditional dishes, enjoy local fresh vegetables, fruit, make the traditional cake and talk about the Vietnamese family's custom together. I offer free tea and local drink.

Main Dish

• Fry spring roll or 
• Fresh Noodle roll with beef/chicken

Soup

• Seafood Soup: Crab or fish or clam soup, or
• Pork ball soup  herbs or
• Stir chicken with lemongrass or 
• Fry fish with tomato sauce

If you order soup, I will serve with rice noodles. If no soup, I will serve with steamed rice.

Salad

• Green papaya salad or 
• Banana flower salad or 
• Cucumber and jicama salad or 
• Green mango salad

Fry Dish or steam

• Pork with betel leave or 
• Fry egg with betel leave
• Steam pork and mush room in cabbage leave

Vegetarian Menu (No Meat and no Seafood)

• 1. Fry spring roll or Fresh Noodle roll with fruit & herbs
• 2. Cucumber and jicama salad or Green papaya salad or banana flower salad or green mango salad
• 3. Fry egg with betel leave or stir local vegetable with garlic
• 4. Eggplant and turmeric soup / tofu and tomato sauce / vegetarian soup
• 5. Tea / local beer / soft drink / mineral water
• 6. Traditional cake and local fruit for dessert

*The market only opens in the morning, there's no market tour in the afternoon.
