Join me as I take you through my maternal grandmother's post delivery kitchen.

According to Mangalorean tradition, new mums are given special foods during the confinement period - the first 40 days after childbirth. These foods speed up recovery and provide vital nutrients to the new mother and her baby. All these recipes are handed down from mother to daughter and mine are incredibly old. My Mum made them for me and I would like to share these ancient secrets on this platform. Choose from a one day or three day course. You will learn 2 recipes each day.

The course can be personalised to the requirements of guests.

More than A Meal. Indian spices and real whole foods are used to help the new mother to recover and help her to nurse her baby The confinement time and recovery of the mother is very closely linked to what she eats and every region in India has it's secret recipes and traditions. A variety of concoctions are made and served during the confinement period and two of them are described below.

Basic Class

• First Course Healing Soup - warming you up from the inside out and boosting your immunity,
• Second Course Recovery Solutions - Nurturing Your Body 
• Please Note this is for Adults Only

Weekdays

• 10:00 am: Class begins- - Breaking The Ice & Welcome Drink
  10.30 am : Introduction to Mangalorean Indian Customs and Traditions during the Confinement Period
  10.45 am: Display of Ingredients to be used in the class.
  11.00 am: Cooking of Healing Soup - warming you up from the inside out and boosting your immunity.
  11.20am – 12 noon: Making of Recovery Solutions - Nurturing Your Body
  12 noon to 1 pm : Sampling and Question & Answer Time
  1:00 pm: End of class

*Note: Timing and date could be adjusted to suit personal preferences, please comment on your bookings.

** The time taken for the second course varies according to the recipe for the day. This is a highly specialized class and therefore require 24 hours notice. Weekend Classes Require 48 hours notice.
